I am an experienced legal journalist who was cut loose by a major publisher after 30 years of experience. Yes, it’s an old story, but believe me when I say it’s different when it happens to you. It’s amazing how much of your identity can be tied up in a job — even one that you sometimes wanted to walk away from. So, here I am — not old enough for Social Security, but definitely a member of the leading edge of the Baby Boomers — trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up. In the meantime, I’m dusting off my writing skills after more than 10 years of managing other writers. Let’s see how it goes.
